Jim Cooper

jim_huggingJim “Jimmy” Cooper is the Head, Heart, and Hands of our Chicks for Children Foundation. We are able to touch lives through Jimmy’s hands. Most of us are “come and go” missionaries. Jimmy, on the other hand, lives amongst his family – Pastor Richard and Hellen Makani, the Seeds Ministry team, and of course, all his children. Jimmy is a missionary lifer who represents our foundation effort to mobilize and transport prayer and financial support from the states to Kitale.

Jimmy is one of the most unpretentious people you will meet. He attempts to make himself available without the need to impress others with an appearance of greater importance, talent, or culture than is actually possessed. Jimmy is often asked, “What do you do?”

His answer is simply, “I make myself available to the kids.” Jimmy is alert to God’s call and answers with humility. He is truly a wonderful role model for the kids as well as adults.

In partnership with Pastor Richard and Hellen Makani, Jimmy has recently helped with a variety of very important initiatives, including the Music Ministry/Praise Band, the Seeds Children’s Church at the orphanage, and a Leadership/Discipleship Team. The music ministry is the outgrowth of God’s call and Jimmy’s desire to represent his wife, the late Melody McWhiter, who loved music and who wanted to share that love with her children.

Increasingly, Jimmy is assuming a very important role in mentoring and coaching the kids to be successful servants. We are indebted to Jimmy’s commitment to serve not only our mission efforts but also the mission efforts of many of the missionary teams who travel to Kitale to serve Seeds Ministry.

If there is such a thing as an unsung hero, it would be Jimmy. However, he would have nothing to do with such a title.

Jimmy is simply a servant who heard God’s call in Isaiah 6:8. The Lord said, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Jimmy replied in 2008, “Here I am. Send me!” He is alert to the needs of the children/youth and makes himself available.

On behalf of the Chicks for Children Foundation of supporters, thank you Jimmy for helping us make a difference in the lives of orphans, widows, and people of extreme poverty. You truly help us make heaven on earth a better place. You are a wonderful example for our call to action to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandments.
